Mrs. Marshall's Computer Literacy classes are currently working on Unit 3 Coding. Students completed an unplugged music activity on step-by-step directions to help them better understand how to write algorithms.
Along with the majority of the city, Caruthersville School District is without internet service for now. This also impacts our phone service. We are in contact with providers and hope to be back in service soon. Thank you for your patience.
Today, we took a break from learning about Ancient Egypt to honor the men and women past and present who are a part of the 1% that protects our American Freedom. We took some time to discuss the history of this holiday and created collages in honor of Veterans Day! As a veteran myself, I am so proud and honored to be able to cover this subject with the 6th graders of CMS!!

Ms. Ditzler's 7th graders are continuing with Project Lead the Way. They were given a patient file with vital signs and symptoms. The students then had to write interview questions to ask their patients to diagnose and treat them. Their patients were staff at the school who had a file with their symptoms and answers. When the kids thought they had the diagnosis, they had to check the test results. Many thanks to Ms. Steph, Ms. Katie, Ms. Kate, Ms. Kayla, Ms. Shonda, Mr. Miller, Mrs. Prater, Ms. Hooker, Mrs. Whitfield, Mrs. Burkhalter, Dr. Cates, Ms. Hannah and Mrs. Tracie Miller!
Ms. Shonda’s 6th grade (all girls) learned about unconventional art. They are planning a fashion show, constructing the outfits out of cardboard. If you have any “junk” anything packaging related, we would love to take it from you.

Mrs. Marshall's Spanish I & II students celebrated Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead). Students began the unit by researching the cultural history. Students then created graphic organizers from the research, letters, and alters to loved ones who have passed to celebrate their life. Spanish students create a CMS Dia de Muertos alter to allow others to learn about the Spanish cultural holiday. Students also enjoyed tasting Mexican Wedding Cookies and Champurrado (Mexican Hot Chocolate).

Enjoy your long weekend! 🐯
In celebration of the 236th anniversary of it's drafting, Caruthersville School District has officially proclaimed September 17-September 23 as Constitution Week. District and Building level proclamations were signed and sealed with students and principals.
Due to the number of ill Staff in the district, Caruthersville 18 will be closed tomorrow, 9/1/23. Because this is a staff issue and not student, extracurricular activities will continue. As always we encourage all those interested to apply to become a substitute teacher. Have a great weekend. Go Tigers
Mrs. McGraw and Mrs. Rhine represented Caruthersville School District proudly today at the statewide DCI conference on education. They presented the concepts of “Data Chats” that Mrs. McGraw developed and Mrs. Rhine adopted this past year. Great job!!!!
